Barna Illés - Tibor Gyenis: Lands Never Travelled

What would you like to do on a gloomy winter's day? Most people would probably choose to lounge on a sunny seaside. Let's go travelling then - but differently! Dorottya Gallery offers you a special journey. It is partly imaginary, because at the display Lands Never Travelled, you can see the photos of visual artists Tibor Gyenis and Barna Illés. They are unique photos in that they were taken on real locations, but since they are manipulated, they are no longer conventional landscapes or genres. The journey, however, also consists of a real part: at a website, you can sign up for real sightseeing and photo tours in the city; your travel agent is Dorottya Gallery. During these "alternative tours," the artists help the participants to see, and photo, differently those Budapest scenes they have probably known; they introduce ways to see and represent the familiar as exotic.
