Direct Pictures - Ten years of the ÉLESD Art Workshop

It has tradition that groups of artists from Transylvania has been linking to Hungarian ArtWorld. Unsettling and fruitful intellectuality they have and take it here, to the "other mother country".

Since 1995 - when five students from Marosvásárhely (Romania) passed into the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts - situation has strengthened and changed. Their natural thoughts inspired their friends and audience to debate freshly and intensively about new ways of art.

Their art differs from features of our art life, but has fructified it. That is why it could not be written Hungarian art history of recent time without mentioned their works. ERNST Múzeum has shown representational Exhibitions about Hungarian Art from Romania as we could see the Marosvásárhely Workshop (MAMÜ) or Common Space exhibitions.

New generation of Hungarian-Romanian artists established a colony in Élesd-Alesd (Romania) in 1996, where they come back in every year. Most participants are painters who has worked out new types of pictures collected the great tendencies of 20th century paintings and make the dividing lines ceased between figurative and non-figurative, conceptual and sensual or spiritual and magic way of visual art.

The essential power of making picture is unique in our contemporary art, which has created new painting forms of imagine and reality, includes physicality and sensibility.

Planned exhibition of ERNST Múzeum in 2007 will represent artworks of every members of ÉLESD Art Workshop, mainly those artists who worked together in 2006, in the 10th year.
