Coffee in the drawing room | China sets from the Merényi Collection

The Műcsarnok - Kunsthalle hosts an exhibition of the finest pieces of Gusztáv Merényi’s collection of china coffee sets. The show is organised in conjunction with the comprehensive All Around Us. National Salon 2017. Applied Arts and Design exhibition.

The collection chiefly features European porcelain manufactures, including world-famous names such as Augarten, Sèvres, Limoges, Wedgwood, Meissen, Fürstenberg, Rosenthal, Robj, Carlton, Shelley, Lenox and Noritake.

Many of the coffee cups and pots are the result of manufactures and legendary designers, including Josef Hoffmann, Walter Gropius, Victor Vasarely, Pavel Janák, Marcello Morandini, Matteo Thun, Dorothy Hafner, Gianni Versace, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Bjørn Wiinblad, Lutz Rabold and Dezső Ekler, to name but the most famous.

The exhibition presents the utensils of the rite of coffee drinking from the past 200 years, showcasing styles such as Empire, Biedemeier, Historicism, Sezessionstil, Art Deco to contemporary.
